Imagine children having fun playing together, participating in community service, and raising funds for the nation's #1 and #3 killer's- Heart Disease and Stroke. That is what Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart is all about! These programs encourage children to participate in physical activity and show them that contributing to their community can be a lot of fun!

What is Jump Rope or Hoops For Heart? They are nationally sponsored programs sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD). These are programs that involve teaching jump rope skills or basketball skills usually during your PE instruction time. These programs are designed to enhance your Jump Rope or Basketball units that you already teach. They also are designed to teach school age children the benefits of lifelong heart-healthy lifestyles.

What are the benefits of doing Jump Rope For Heart or Hoops For Heart? These programs are designed to not only build confidence in children, but to provide achievement opportunities to kids who may not be top students academically or athletically. It teaches the kids the importance of exercise, eating healthy, and the effects of smoking. These programs provide detailed, illustrated educational materials, which are great for supplementing the school's physical education program. The coordinator and the participants of this program are rewarded with great prizes and the school can win gift certificates to use to purchase PE equipment.
